A first attempt at poetry: The Daintree River Dad
There he stands, no hand in hand,
A testament to a proper man.
Child left free to,
Meet new people,
Liberated from age old plans.
Crocodiles and snakes are plenty,
Surrounding us as we cruise the Daintree,
And yet he lets her,
Walk and wander,
Not a care of where she ought to be.
When I ponder, ponder, about my own offspring,
And how, in this world, I would want to bring,
Them up, I would say I have achieved
My goals, and be relieved,
If they grow up with a curiosity.
And I think I would be glad,
If not a little mad,
If I raise them,
guide them, leave them,
To wander like the Daintree dad
