A future worth measuring

Lo!
Gather round ye plebeian fools!
And I shall give you a glimpse of the times to be.
'tis neither heaven, nor hell, the future you see.
But much bleaker than that, much bleaker indeed.

We stand on the brink of a magnificent war,
As we battle our bodies, our hearts, and our minds.
We search that which ails us, has troubled thus far,
And during our search we are hoping to find,

A cure for it all! All illness and pain.
All anguish and cancers and whatever remains.

We charge with our smart phones,
Our FitBits and pebbles!
Hoping that knowledge will strength our side.
We charge with the hope, when we have measured enough,
That our graphs and our plots will aid us in our fight!

And thus is the future borne out of today.
Where all else is measured that measured can be,
And whatever is not, for want of a means,
A means will be found, whether blood, stool or pee.
